Leaving the Doctors office in May 2017, I  was feeling deflated after receiving my Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis. I always believed  that food was medicine and an holistic approach to health was the route for me. Deep down inside I knew that by changing my diet it would help stabilise my blood sugars and I was determined to not be put on any medications.

Over the years I had learnt that carbohydrates turn to sugar but was finding it difficult to remove them completely from my diet without feeling hungry.  So the search continued to find something that I could easily do and enjoy the food I was eating.  I wanted something I could sustain for life.

Research started and I found lots of Ketogenic Youtubers who were geared to weight loss but not many people talking about Diabetes and Insulin Resistance.  I then came across a Facebook Group 'Reversing Diabetes Australasia and Reversing Diabetes UK. ' This group follow a Ketogenic way of eating and it sounded so interesting.  They opened my eyes to the possibility that I could control or reverse my disease by eating delicious satiating foods.

In their tool chest they had a video by Dr Eric Westman.  This changed everything for me and gave me hope. He was talking to a group of diabetics and giving them a Ketogenic Diet to reverse their Diabetes.  I thought this was just amazing and I knew that this was the diet for me!

I then found Dr Justin Anderson 'Cut the Killer Carbs' Youtube podcasts and was just fascinated listening to all the success stories and began to understand why I had Diabetes.  This led me to "2 Keto Dudes' and their Youtube Podcasts  which are so informative and positive and to many more.  I felt determined to turn my health around by eating real food.

There is a whole, worldwide, informative and positive Keto community out there and I had just started to tap into it.   It was time to clear the cupboards of sugar and carbs and start cooking!
